Makeup Spotlight: Lips

Girl. You know I have full lips so it is my duty to highlight them. These are the top shades that you can catch me wearing—

  • Mac Lipstick – “Touch”
    • Alone, this lipstick is too light for me. It has a beautiful, silky texture but alone which is really hydrating for lips. I usually add this color on top of a dark, brown matte shade.
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipgloss – “Vamp”
    • This is a great, pigmented color for fall. Its extremely thick and a little goes a long way. Anastasia also has a matte shade in the same color, so pair them together for a beautiful, deep pink/brown lip.
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick – “Trust Issues”
    • This shade looks much different online but it is definitely a deep color. This is a great, velvet color for women of color! I like to add this lipstick when I have light makeup for a pop of color
  • NYX – “Simply Red”
    • I’ll be honest, this color isn’t long lasting however, its a good red for times that you really need a SCREAMING lip color. But be sure to bring it with you, if you’re going on so you can re-apply. We all need a pop of red sometimes!

Makeup Spotlight: Face

The past few months I’ve found myself addicted to Youtube makeup tutorials—there are so many! For quite some time, makeup wasn’t something I cared much about. I had MAC foundation, drugstore mascara, chapstick, and I was set. With so many products out there, I was tempted to discover the world of beauty and got myself hooked! Since I work traditional hours during the week, I try and keep it simple with my go-to-routine since in the mornings, I’m always in rush. Of course, when I’m going to dinners or the square with friends, I really try and beat the face for the Gods and Goddess.

Here are my go-to face products!

I HAVE RISEN FROM THE DEAD

It’s been a hot minute! Life has been crazy hectic the last few months and unfortunately, I haven’t had the time to dedicate to writing. With things slowing down and me finally getting a grip on “adulting,” I hope to go back to posting multiple times a week!

THE TIMELINE

I graduated from Texas State University in May with a degree in Advertising. 2 months later, I received a job offer! #Godisgood. I have to say, applying to find a first job was such a challenging process. I stressed myself for many days about what the next step would be for me. I can’t even tell you how many jobs I applied to all over the country—but it was definitely a ridiculous amount. I came across The Creative Group on LinkedIn and they helped me find a job within a few weeks.

I am the Communications Coordinator for Austin Board of REALTORS®. My job consists of a variety of duties but I mostly write blog pieces, ghostwrite for the president of the organization, as well as handle ABoR’s social media accounts. This job definitely correlates with what I studied in school which is an amazing plus since I know many students have a job that doesn’t relate with their school studies. With that being said, I’m really thankful that an organization gave me a start because I know I am capable of so much!

These past few months have been quite the adjustment. As a student, I was constantly busy. I was involved in numerous organizations, was constantly surrounded by great friends, and focused on my school work. Because of a busy schedule, I was barely home. Everyday was filled with something new, which I loved so much.

Working is definitely the exact opposite of that. The days are the same. You have much more a routine and I do not know many people in the city I live in, so I don’t have the ability to go out as much as I used to. I am not surrounded by my peers, or listening to lectures, or studying in a library—all things I never thought I’d miss!

It is my plan to go back to school to get a Masters degree within the next few years. Where and what I will study are unknown for now, but time will tell.

For those of you have recently graduated, I hope all is well. Challenge yourself and find a job position that can show off your talents yet also builds you to be a stronger individual. If you haven’t yet found a job, that is perfectly okay! A part of me wishes that I spent the summer after graduating, relaxing and spending more time with family and friends. Timing is everything meaning everything will fall into place when it is supposed to.

xoxo

CHOKERS

Chokers are my everything right now. I don’t wear them for everyday wear, but I love to wear them when I’m heading out with friends. Funny enough, North West & Kim K West got me into them! LOL! This is going to sound crazy, but I haven’t bought any chokers yet because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend the money on them. So up until now, I’ve been using headbands. They have worked wonderfully and people can’t tell the difference.

I found this website that makes some really cute chokers. Check them out and hop on the choker trend!

CROCHET BRAIDS

I recently learned about crochet braids and I think they will be my next go to hairstyle! They are so easy to do and with practice, you can probably do them on yourself. It’s the perfect hairstyle if you’re looking for something with lots of volume and curls. Ask your hairdresser if she can do this style for you, for summer!

Maintenance Tips:

  • Before going to bed, separate your hair into 3 sections and twist each section and add a small rubber band or hair tie at the end to secure the twist. After twisting your hair, put on your satin bonnet.
  • After some time, your curls may be hard to manage. Grab a spray bottle, fill it with water, and spray evenly throughout your hair. After this, detangle and add some product.
  • Don’t use a comb in your crochet braids whatsoever!
  • This hairstyle won’t last as long as others. Keep it in for about 4-5 weeks.

  • Sorry x Beyoncé
  • All Night x Beyoncé
  • Gotta Lotta x 2 Chainz x Lil Wayne
  • Voodoo x Frank Ocean
  • Tell Your Friends x The Weeknd

DAINTY JEWELRY

I love jewelry when it’s minimalistic. I used to love chunky necklaces and dangling earrings but I’ve learned that simple is sexy. I ordered a gold initial necklace from Mia and Mac on Etsy for $20 dollars and wear it almost everyday. I feel like it gives the perfect touch to most outfits.

RING CEREMONY

This weekend I participated in my university’s Ring Ceremony. It was such an honor being recognized in front of my friends and family for completing the Gold Book in order to receive a free class ring. Texas State has an awesome tradition where class ring recipients put their ring on during the ceremony and put their hand in water from the San Marcos River. I am lucky to have my family live close by so they were able to join in on the festivities! To me, this was a mini-graduation and during this ceremony, it truly hit me that in less than 2 weeks I’ll be walking across the stage and done with undergrad! I am so fortunate to attend the best university in Texas and I am so proud to forever be a Bobcat.

Meet Me At Starbucks

I came across this video while browsing case studies on Ideas United’s website. I think this concept is so creative and different! Ideas United participated with multiple agencies to capture these sweet moments from Starbucks markets around the world — 28 countries. The coverage was captured by almost 50 local filmmakers and photographers!

Caution:This video may cause a large smile. Enjoy!
